Rules Support Specialist - Intellectual property

CompuLaw is the market leader in legal calendaring technology.  Our core business is providing software to law firms and attorneys that tracks critical legal deadlines.  CompuLaw's legal calendaring software uses a database of formulas to quickly and accurately calculate all the legal deadlines needed to perform various actions in the course of a case.  This database is created and updated by the CompuLaw Rules Department.  The Rules Department is staffed by a team of Rules Support Specialists who perform the following duties: 

  • Analyze court rules to create new rules databases.
  • Review amendments to rules and update the corresponding rules database.
  • Provide support services to existing client base (all support provided via email).
  • Research calendaring related issues.
  • Monitor courts/legislation for changes to rules.
  • Quality control and testing of rules and rules functionality.
  • Other miscellaneous duties.

 On a day-to-day basis, you may perform a variety of the functions listed above, but the bulk of your time will be spent reading and analyzing rules and statutes and researching answers to legal calendaring related questions from clients.

 Qualifications for the Rules Support position:

Law degree.

Patent & Trademark experience.

You must be looking for a long-term position.  CompuLaw invests a great deal of time and effort in training new support specialists. 

You must enjoy problem solving.  Much of the work involves analytical thinking in order to determine the best method to deal with complex date calculation issues.

You must enjoy legal research.

You must enjoy using computers and software, and be willing to learn to use many different software applications. No specific experience is required, as we will train on all applications you will use.

Position would be ideal for someone looking for flexible hours, or to leave the traditional practice of law, or returning to work after taking time away from law practice.

Sales Representative
Established in 1978, CompuLaw is a Legal Software Company that specializes in Legal Calendaring/Docketing software with built-in court rules. Nationally recognized as the leader in this market, CompuLaw is looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual with a sales personality to sell and market Legal Software as part of the CompuLaw Sales Team. Litigation law firm experience, an understanding of the inner-workings of the law firm environment or docketing experience would be a plus; excellent communication skills are a must. Position is based in Century City, however, you will get to travel into your sales territory approximately 4-6 times per year for client meetings, trade shows etc.
