CompuLaw Offers Bankruptcy Rules Sets LOS ANGELES – February 24, 2009 - CompuLaw LLC, publisher of calendar/docket matter management software with built-in court rules databases, is now offering a comprehensive library of rules databases for law firms looking to add or enhance the practice of bankruptcy law. In addition, the company has expanded its training team to accommodate the increased demand and now has six trainers to provide detailed instructions on timely implementations and the wide-ranging benefits of CompuLaw’s bankruptcy court rules. Highlights of CompuLaw’s Bankruptcy Rules include:
“There has been a historic increase in bankruptcy filings over the past year,” said David J. Kalmick, president and CEO of CompuLaw. In fact, according to a December 15, 2008 news release from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, bankruptcy filings are up more than 30% over the last reported twelve month period. Business filings, specifically, are up 49% for the reported 12-month period ending September 30, 2008. “Today’s law firms are scrambling to adjust to the demand this economy has placed on the legal industry,” continued Kalmick. “Some firms are filling the increased need for bankruptcy attorneys with attorneys that do not primarily practice bankruptcy law. During our last economic downturn, malpractice claims rose up to 60 percent. By utilizing CompuLaw's databases, attorneys can monitor their cases and keep track of all related deadlines, such as filing proof of claims, responding to objections, and filing or serving objections to confirmation of the plan.” CompuLaw offers rules databases for all 50 states, including State, Federal, Appellate, Supreme Court, Bankruptcy, Intellectual Property and more. During 2008, CompuLaw released 346 separate rules updates (rule sets updated 3,690 times in total) as well as 91 new rule sets for numerous jurisdictions across the United States, including Illinois, Indiana, California, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan, New Mexico, Georgia and Tennessee.
