CompuLaw Announces Vision™ Version
9.0
Includes the Event Exclusion and
Parties Insert Features, the CompuLaw Information Center with Court Rules
Knowledge Base, Plus Significant Court Date Scheduling Enhancements
LOS ANGELES – September
7, 2005 - CompuLaw LLC, publisher of calendar/docket software with built-in
court rules databases, announced today the release of Vision 9.0, a significant
update to its highly popular calendar solution. Version 9.0 offers many
exciting new features, including the Event Exclusion and Parties Insert
features, the CompuLaw Information Center (CIC), court date scheduling
enhancements, international trademark changes and new reporting options.
The Event Exclusion feature allows users to automatically exclude certain
categories of dates from being scheduled. This can be set for either
individual timekeepers or for the entire matter. For example, users may
wish to exclude “Service
by fax” events from certain matters. Certain timekeepers, such as partners,
may not wish to see every motion date, but may want to be advised of trials and
other “milestone” events for specific
matters.
The Parties Insert feature allows users to quickly enter events without having
to spend time manually adding the parties and editing event descriptions. Users
simply designate the roles of parties listed for a case, and Vision will automatically
insert the party names into the event description, the trigger event and all
other related events.
This expert feature also allows users to quickly select or remove parties in
multi-party cases, so users can track which events apply to which parties in
a multi-party case. For example, the trigger and related event: Date of Service
of Complaint - Last day for Defendant to Respond to Complaint would then become:
Date of Service of Acme Inc.'s Complaint on Defendant Smith Corporation --- Last
day for Defendant Smith Corporation to Respond to Acme Inc.'s Complaint.
CompuLaw Vision 9.0’s CIC allows firms to directly access (through Vision)
CompuLaw’s Court Rules Knowledge Base. With CompuLaw’s Court Rules
Knowledge Base, users are immediately informed of important rules changes, can
view court information (including state court structure and relation to CompuLaw
rule sets) and can review the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) databases for
CompuLaw’s rules and technology support departments. The CIC provides
functionality that allows firms to view and download new rules and recent
rules updates.
“In an effort to be consistently ahead of the curve when it comes to features
and functionality, we have added a number of new features and important enhancements
to Version 9.0. We have always listened carefully to our customer feedback and
user suggestions. Version 9.0 is a great example of this philosophy,” said
David J. Kalmick, president and CEO of CompuLaw. “For example,
we have included convenient reporting and printing options to extend
flexibility for legal professionals, such as the Timekeeper Order on
Reports, the Event Reports by Office, and the By Timekeeper Report Ordered
by Timekeeper Name. We have always welcomed valuable feedback from our
customers as we continue to meet and exceed their legal calendaring needs.”
“Version 9.0 has built-in court rules functionality that won’t be
apparent immediately. These functions will “appear” as
new rules updates are released. With Vision 9.0, our rules just got smarter,” said
Alex Manners, vice president of Legal Rules Products.
Court date and other scheduling features added to Vision Version 9.0 include:
• Jurisdiction information – court jurisdiction information is now
entered and maintained on a separate tab on the matter information entry
form, allowing for quick and easy entry and lookup.
• Formula calculation changes – trigger dates can now have a secondary
date calculation, and secondary formulas can be set to calculate a date.
• Calculation adjustment features – users will now have the ability
to define Saturday as a workday for a rule set (i.e. some courts, including
foreign courts, work on Saturdays).
• Formula change history – Vision will automatically track changes
to court rules formulae. A complete detailed history of changes can be
viewed or printed at any time. You can even view the changes for an individual
formula.
Look for upcoming International Trademark changes in Vision 9.0, including
U.S. Customs tabs and International Trademark and U.S. Trademark summary
pages (expected early 2006). For more information about CompuLaw Vision 9.0,
