Using Multiple
Rule Sets Together
Frequently
you will need to use multiple CompuLaw rule sets concurrently. This is because each rule set
may contain deadlines from a different rule book. For example,
if you are litigating in Maryland U.S. District Court you will need
to follow the deadlines set forth in the local rules of court, and
in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Just as you will need
to use two different rule books, you will need to use two different
CompuLaw rule sets to generate the correct deadlines.
Many CompuLaw
rule sets combine the deadlines from different rule books into one
rule set so users only
have to use that one rule set. For example, some Arizona
local rule sets also contain the deadlines from the Arizona Rules of
Civil Procedure. Users need only select the local rule set to
calculate the correct deadlines for this jurisdiction.
How do I
know which rule sets to use together? The Jurisdiction
Selection Expert automatically
selects the correct rule sets for any given jurisdiction. Alternatively,
you can check the Rules section of the CompuLaw Website which lists
the required rule sets.
