These one-hour seminars are designed
to focus
on certain features or product modules in Vision.
These sessions are not meant to replace the comprehensive and custom
on-site training designed for new installations. Course descriptions
and their dates are listed below.
A $50 fee is charged
for each person attending a WEBEX training session. Registration
requires prepayment for the class and signing a training agreement.
Payment can be made via check or credit card prior to your training
date.
Once payment is received you will be confirmed
in the training by receiving an invitation from the WEBEX software
Meeting Manager. Registration and payment must be received two
days prior to your scheduled training date in order to be confirmed
in the class. Each of these classes has a limitation of 8 students,
and scheduling will be on a first confirmed payment basis. Note: Classes
are subject to cancellation if CompuLaw does not have at least
three students three days before a training session.

This is the recommended order in which classes should be completed.
OVERVIEW OF Compulaw VISION
This course is designed for first time users as a quick one hour overview to gain knowledge and insight into the program and to learn the major features the program has to offer. Once you complete this course, you will be ready to begin using the program and then decide on other courses you might take to further your education of the software. Throughout this one-hour session you will learn how to:
- Navigate the CIC – CompuLaw Information Center
- Learn about the drop down menu selections, the icons and the navigation panel
- Add clients
- Add matter information
- Add court ruled events and non-court ruled events
- Edit events
- Search the data base using * and advanced filter options
- Print reports
If you are a new user you don’t want to miss this detailed explanation / overview to the program.
Prerequisite: This class has no requirements other than a licensed copy of Vision.
clients & matters — the foundation
Vision’s client and matter lists are the foundation upon which the firm’s calendaring system is built. This seminar lays the groundwork by addressing how to quickly search for specific client and matter information. This course is designed to focus on adding and editing clients, as well as entering data and details at the matter level.
After completion of this class you will have learned how to:
- Add and edit client information
- Add and edit matter information
- Add information on the
- Information Tab
- Defaults Tab
- Jurisdiction Tab
- Address Tab
- Related Parties Tab
- Case Notes Tab
- Documents Tab
- Change timekeepers on cases
- Track unique information related to a client/matter
If you are adding clients, updating the client/matter information, modifying field names to suit your specific environment, this is a great class for you!
Prerequisite: This class requires you to have an understanding of the basic function of the product. Users should have rights to add and modify docket tables and client/matter tables.
Overview Of compulaw Vision
basic
This class is designed to give you a quick one-hour overview of the CompuLaw Vision Basic program that is sold to small firms (sole practitioners.) You will gain knowledge and insight into the entire program and learn all the features the program has to offer. Once you complete this course, you will be ready to begin using the program and be able to decide on other courses you might take to further your education of the software.You will learn how to:

- Add events
- Edit events

Matters—advanced
This class is designed for experienced Vision users and focuses on the matter at an in depth level. In this class you will learn how to:
- Create a sub matter using the parent matter
- Move matters from one client to another client
- Synchronize timekeepers
- Make global changes to the Vision database regarding attorneys
- Set-up the database screens using list format settings
If your firm has parent/child relationships with matters, this is a class you won’t want to miss!
Prerequisite: This class requires you to have experience and understanding of all functions throughout the entire Vision program. Users should have rights to change data at a global level within the program.
Appointments and
Deadlines
This class will teach you how to properly add key events to Vision by use of the Jurisdiction Selection Expert™ and the Event Selection Expert™.
You will learn how to:
- Add events using the appropriate jurisdiction
- Add events using the Event Selection Expert™
- Add manual events (non-court ruled)
- How to enter dates using the Calcudator™ or adding perpetual dates
If you have questions related to rule sets and calendaring events, this is the class for you!
Prerequisite: This class requires that you to have an understanding of the basic function of the product, either through practical experience or because you have taken the Overview of Vision course. Users must have rights to add and change event data in the program.
Working with Events—Advanced
This course will teach you how to complete advanced filtering techniques throughout the program, enabling you to quickly find, modify and complete events.
You will learn how to:
- Use the event icon for all filter options
- Filter for appearances and deadlines for specific attorneys and/or matters
- How to customize the event list view, set-up and default user view
- How the Group ID and Event ID effect filtering
Once you master this portion of Vision, you will be your firm’s expert. Don’t miss this opportunity!
Prerequisite: This class requires that you either have hands-on experience in scheduling events within the Vision program or that you have completed the Appointment & Deadlines course. Users should have rights to change and mark completed event data.
Reports—Essentials
CompuLaw provides over 70 preprogrammed reports so you can keep track of event data, calendars, information on clients/matters and audits for your firm. This class is designed for beginning or intermediate users of Vision.
You will learn how to:
- Decide which reports you should run to obtain the results you want
- Format the ‘look’ of the event, the reminder and the to do text
- Create various types of reports: firm trial, case trial, by date, by attorney, etc.
- Discuss advanced filtering options
- Set up the options and filters to obtain optimal results for your attorneys
This class will take the mystery out of extracting data from the Vision database. If you have any hesitation or trouble creating reports, this is the class for you!
Prerequisite: This class requires that you to have experience with the Vision program or that you have taken one of our Overview, Appearance & Deadlines, and/or Clients & Matters classes.
Report Modifier—advanced
This course will show you how to design/create firm specific reports using Vision’s relational database.
You will learn how to:
- Create and print a wide variety of reports and calendars using the report wizard
- Meet the diverse needs of your firms’ attorneys and staff by designing the look of the report
- Create calendars for your entire firm or for a particular attorney
- Use proper filters to extract only the specific information needed
If you need to create different custom reports that present case information in a variety of useful ways—such as one that provides all of the events associated with a client, a particular matter, or of the cases assigned to a particular attorney—this is the class for you!
Prerequisite: This is a class for all Vision users. Users running Vision Basic are allowed to create one custom report.
Outlook integration/exchange Sync
This class is designed for firms that want to understand the capabilities that Vision has with integrating to Outlook. The Exchange Synchronization allows you to synchronize events scheduled in Vision with the attorney’s outlook calendar.
You will learn how to:
- Customize the synchronization settings based on firm level, group level or individual level based on the firm/attorney needs
- Utilize all the capabilities and options of Exchange Synchronization before making a firm-wide decision
Prerequisite: Users must have administrative rights to their Vision program in order to implement what is taught in this course.

Update (latest release)
This session covers all the new features of the latest Vision release. The release contains:

Vision
Web PortaL (New version 3)
CompuLaw’s latest version of Web Portal offers some major benefits on the submittal request form to the docketing personnel.
You will learn how to:
- Configure your program using Web Portal Configuration Manager to suit your attorneys and staff needs
- The basic functionality of the Portal program so that you can train your attorneys and staff on how to view the calendar, run reports and submit calendar requests
- Add, change and remove items from your docket
- About CompuLaw Collaborate™ integration with Microsoft Office Sharepoint 2007 Server

Prerequisite: Must be a licensee of CompuLaw’s Web Portal module that operates with Vision.
